Bobcats scratch back

The Saddleback men's soccer team defeated Cuyamaca College, 1-0, on Tuesday afternoon in Rancho San Diego.  Alejandro Gonzalez netted a goal in the 50th minute to fuel the win.

Saddleback entered the day with massive challenges, having to face a team that played in the state title game last fall along with overcoming a disappointing loss in the season opener last Friday.  The Bobcats responded with a great performance, beating a team that had 17 wins a year ago.

Saddleback and Cuyamaca were deadlocked at 0-0 entering the second half when the Bobcats struck for the lone goal of the game.  Gonzalez steered a pass from Gus Roetcisoender in the 50th minute that got past the Cuyamaca keeper for the lone goal of the game, thus sending the bench into complete exhilaration.

Saddleback then held on for the win as Dominic DiFrenna kept the Coyotes off the scoreboard.  DiFrenna played the entire game and finished with three saves on the day to improve to 1-1 on the season.

Saddleback is now 1-1 overall to start the year.  The Bobcats will host Pasadena City College next Tuesday as part of a double-header with the Lancers.  The Saddleback men are scheduled to play at 4:00 PM on Tuesday with the women's game to follow.  It is also Youth Soccer Night inside the stadium.
