Bobcats still purrfect
The Saddleback men's golf team improved to 34-0 with a team score of 384 at Los Serranos South Golf Course on Wednesday in Chino Hills. The Bobcats were led by Clayton Smith, Arthur Hess and Aidan Valdez.
Saddleback was battling both colder temperatures and punched greens on Wednesday on the par-74 South Course at Los Serranos. With the temperatures in the low 60's for most of the round, Saddleback generated just enough heat on their own to remain undefeated for the year.
Smith, Hess and Valdez all shot rounds of 76 (+2) to finish in a tie for third place in medalist play. The Bobcats also had Denis Watson at 77 (+3) and Declan Lane at 79 (+5) to finish +14 as a team. The most entertaining round of the day belonged to Watson, who shot +7 on the opening nine before shooting -4 on the back nine.
Saddleback finished three shots in front of Riverside City College and nine shots ahead of both Cuyamaca College and College of the Desert.
The Bobcats will play next on Monday at Cottonwood Golf Club against Orange Empire Conference Coastal Division opponents.
