Bobcats win season-opener

The Saddleback men's golf team opened the season with a win at the Point Conception Invitational at La Purisima Golf Course on Monday in Lompoc.  Denis Watson led the Bobcats and captured medalist honors in the win.

The opening tournament of the season was shortened to one round on Monday as a result of inclement weather.  The Bobcats didn't let it bother them, cruising to a 14-stroke win. 

Watson shot a +1 round of 73 on Monday to win medalist honors by three shots.    Finishing second was Saddleback's Aidan Valdez, who finished in a tie for second after a round of 76.  Saddleback had one other player in the 70's in the team score after Clayton Smith shot 78 to finish in a tie for fifth in medalist play.  Carson Adams (84) and Jack Shipton (84) rounded on the team score.  Saddleback had one other player shoot in the 70's as Arthur Hess shot 79 playing as an individual.
