Former baller could be NBA target
The Saddleback men's basketball program was back in the news this week with the news that former player T.J. Shorts has been rumored as an off-season target of the NBA's Memphis Grizzlies. Shorts played at Saddleback from 2015-2017.
Shorts has been in the rumor mill in recent weeks as his name has been associated with the Memphis Grizzlies as a potential off-season signing. Clement Carton of BasketEurope.com (French publication) is reporting that Shorts has received big offers to remain in the EuroLeague but seems to think he could ending up signing with the Grizzlies.
Shorts is currently playing in Paris with Paris Basketball where he has been for the past two seasons. Shorts averaged 18.7 points-per-game and a league-high 7.5 assists this season and was named to the All-Euro-League First Team.
Shorts was a two-time All-Orange Empire Conference player and the league MVP and all-state selection in 2015-16. He led the program to a 55-7 record over two years and a spot in the state finals in 2016.
Following Saddleback, Shorts transferred to UC Davis where he was named the Big West Conference player-of-the-year and newcomer-of-the-year in his first season with the Aggies.
Shorts started his professional career in Latvia and played for two teams in Germany before landing in France with Paris Basketball.
