Bobcats get hot against Golden West

The Saddleback men's basketball team improved to four games above .500 with an 85-60 victory over Golden West College on Wednesday night inside the Saddleback Gymnasium.  Andre Speight had a big night to lead the Bobcats.

Saddleback led from start to finish, never trailing in the game.  The Bobcats had a nine-point lead at the break after James Burries scored 11 points in the opening frame and the Bobcats forced 11 turnovers from the Rustlers.

Saddleback got hot from the outside in the second half, making 4-of-11 from long range to run and hide from Golden West.  Speight was the catalyst, scoring 12 of his game-high 20 points on 4-of-9 shooting from the field.  Speight made 3-of-7 from the outside during the second half as Saddleback built a 27-point lead in the final minutes.

Speight was 1-of-4 Bobcats to finish in double-figures as Burries finished with 17 points, John McFadden had 15 points and Charlie Stallings had 13.

Saddleback is now 13-9 overall and 6-4 in Orange Empire Conference play.  The Bobcats are four games above .500 for a third time this season.

Saddleback will look for a third straight win this Friday when they host Irvine Valley College inside the gymnasium at 5:00 PM.
