Cats pick up 10th win of season

The Saddleback men's basketball team picked up its 10th win of the season with a 77-67 victory over Riverside City College on Wednesday night inside the gymnasium.  The Bobcats had four players in double-figures in the win.

Saddleback led throughout, never trailing in the game.  Andre Speight opened the scoring with a three-pointer on the second possession of the game and from that point forward Riverside City was playing catch-up.  The Bobcats had as much as a 13-point lead on four occasions in the half as Riverside couldn't find the bottom of the basket.

Riverside closed the gap to four points in the second half when Saddleback went 6:15 without scoring a point.  The Bobcats were stuck on 54 until the 6:36 mark of the second frame when John McFadden scored a layup to give the Bobcats a 56-50 advantage.  On the next possession, Jackson Gray would complete a three-point play and Saddleback was back on track.

McFadden led Saddleback in scoring with 17 points, making 6-of-11 shots from the field.  Three other Bobcats finished in double figures as James Burries and Charlie Stallings both had 13 while Speight finished with 11.

Saddleback is now 10-7 overall and 3-2 in Orange Empire Conference play.  The Bobcats will travel to Orange Coast College on Friday for a 6:00 PM start in Costa Mesa.
