Walker is latest commitment
The Saddleback men's basketball program was back in the news on Monday with the announcement of another commitment to a four-year university. Jerique Walker gives the Gauchos six commitments for the year.
Walker will play at the University of Saint Katherine (San Marcos, CA), a new member under the NAIA umbrella after going 15-10 last season playing in the National Christian College Athletic Association. The Firebirds will now make the transition to the NAIA level, starting in 2020-21.
Walker played in 22 games last season at Saddleback, averaging 4.1 points 1.0 assists-per-game. He had a season-high 14 points in a win against Antelope Valley College in the opening round of the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Southern California Regional Playoffs.
Walker came to Saddleback from Cardinal Stritch University (WI) where he was a part of the Wolves' program. Previous to CSU, Walker lettered in basketball at Holy Spirit Prep in Georgia before graduating in 2017. While at HSP, he was a two-time all-state selection.
Walker is the sixth member of the 2019-20 team to make a commitment to a four-year school.
