Luginbill headlines all-league selections

The Saddleback football team finished the regular season 9-1 and champions of the National Division Southern League with a 7-0 record.  The Bobcats cleaned up at the all-league selections on Monday, with Noah Luginbill leading the way.

Saddleback had 20 players named to the All-National Division Southern League Team and the coaching staff was selected as the Coaching Staff-of-the-Year.  Luginbill earned top billing individually, being named the Defensive Player-of-the-Year.

Luginbill led the team in tackles during the season (52) while tying for the team lead in pass break-ups (5) and finishing second in tackles-for-loss (7).  He was the leader of a defense that seemed to get better as the season wore on as the Bobcats surrendered just 24 points over the final three weeks and gave up 14-points-or-less in five of the last six games.

Joining Luginbill on the first team were offensive linemen Ryan Karby, Nicholas Brown and Talani Aano, linebackers Jack Knudtson and Jaden Genova, defensive lineman Gavin Blum, corner Emon Carter and kicker Manuel Maganda.

Saddleback had 11 more players named to the All-National Division Southern League Second Team.  Quarterback Tyler Dudden, running back Kavaughn Clark, wide receivers Nicholas Gentilella and Francisco Martinez, tight end Gage Galbreath and lineman Greg Shade were offensive selections to the second team while defensive backs Lucas Short and Jacob Sekiyoba, defensive linemen Marley McKenzie and Iosefa Tapeni and linebacker Orlando Gonzalez were defensive players selected.

First-year head coach Jeff Fischer and his staff were selected as the Coaching Staff-of-the-Year after finishing the regular season 9-1 and 7-0 in Southern League play.  The Bobcats received the No. 2 seed for the playoffs and will host the winner of Mt. San Antonio College and El Camino College on November 29.
