Baseball season comes to a close

Baseball season comes to a close

The Saddleback baseball season ended on Saturday with a 7-4 loss at El Camino College.  The Bobcats finished the season 24-18.

Saddleback was hoping for a little magic to turn around the series on Saturday, but the big break never came as the Bobcats ended their title defense in Torrance.  Saddleback briefly took a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning before El Camino responded and took control over the final five innings.

Saddleback had a tough time on the mound, walking five batters while hitting another four.  That came on the heels of a game on Friday when the pitching staff hit nine batters and walked another five.  In the end, it was too much to overcome as the Bobcats couldn't keep pace on offense.

Jacob Beauchaine and James Derflinger led the offense with two hits apiece on Saturday, with Beauchaine reaching base three times.  Unfortunately, Saddleback's offense hit into three double plays, all of which came over the last five at-bats while trying to stage a comeback.

Saddleback finishes the season 24-18 overall.
