Blakey decides on Big 12 school
The Saddleback baseball program was back in the news this week with the announcement of another player from the 2024 state championship team deciding on a four-year school. Pitcher Dylan Blakey is the seventh commitment of the offseason as he will attend Texas Tech University.
Blakey made the last pitch of the season for Saddleback when he closed the door on San Joaquin Delta College in the state finals. He appeared in 21 games this past season, finishing 5-2 with three saves and a 4.10 ERA for the Bobcats. Blakey was second on the team in strikeouts (75) and finished with a 1.10 WHIP in 48.1 innings of work. He was a First Team All-Orange Empire Conference selection in 2024 after being a second team selection as a freshman in 2023.
Blakey committed to Texas Tech University, located in Lubbock, Texas. The Red Raiders play an NCCA D1 schedule within the Big 12 Conference.
