Bobcats win marathon over Olympians
The Saddleback baseball team won its fifth straight game with a 19-9 win over San Diego Mesa College on Saturday at Doug Fritz Field. The Bobcats rapped out 18 hits in a game that took 3:44.
For a second straight day the Saddleback baseball team dominated from start to finish. The Bobcats scored in the first five innings in cruising to the win.
J.C. Allen had another big day for Saddleback, finishing 3-for-5 with four RBI and three runs-scored. Allen had two doubles heading into the fifth inning when he hit his sixth home run of the season with Makani Tanaka on base to give the Bobcats a 17-3 lead. Allen now has 21 RBI through seven games this season.
Allen was one of three Bobcats to finish with three hits on the day. James Derflinger finished 3-for-4 while Jacob Beauchaine was 3-for-5 with three RBI.
Following the home run, Saddleback went silent over the next two innings as San Diego Mesa rallied for six runs to close the gap to 17-9. The Bobcats then tacked on two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to stifle the rally.
Damon Anderson Wolf started on the mound and pitched through the fifth inning in improving to 2-0 on the season.
In total, the two teams combined to throw 420 pitches in the game.
Saddleback is now 6-1 on the season and has won five straight games. The Bobcats will host Mesa (3-3) again on Tuesday at 2:00 PM.
GAME NOTE: All six of J.C. Allen's home runs this season have been two-run home runs with Makani Tanaka on base.
