Baseball win streak hits four

The Saddleback baseball team won its fourth straight game with a 14-1 victory over Southwestern College on Friday at Doug Fritz Field.  The Bobcats pounded out 16 hits in the win.

Saddleback made a statement in the opening inning when they scored four times in taking a 4-0 lead.  The Bobcats would repeat that number in the third inning in jumping out to a 9-0 lead.

Saddleback had some help on the other side of the field as Southwestern committed four errors in the game. The Jaguars scored their lone run in the fifth inning to cut the Saddleback lead to 9-1.  The Bobcats quickly responded with three runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning to blow the game wide open.

J.C. Allen led the offensive charge for Saddleback, finishing 3-for-5 with five RBI in the game.  His biggest blast came with the bases loaded in the fifth inning when he missed a grand slam by less than a foot in clearing the bases.

Saddleback used a collection of pitchers on a cold and damp day in Mission Viejo.  Dylan Blakey started and completed three innings in being awarded his first win of the season.  He gave way to Jake Porter, who pitched three innings while the offense was building up the lead.  Ryan Seymour, Colin McDonald and Isaac Rodriguez all received an inning of work.

Saddleback is now 5-1 for the season following the win.  The Bobcats will host San Diego Mesa College on Saturday in a game that was originally scheduled to be played in San Diego but was moved due to wet field conditions at the school.  The Bobcats and Olympians are set to clash at 1:00 PM.
