Bobcats pick up third straight win

The Saddleback baseball team won its third straight game with a 6-2 victory over Moorpark College on Saturday afternoon at Doug Fritz Field.  The Bobcats are now 4-1 on the season.

Saddleback received a sensational start from Tyler Byrns, who picked up his first win of the season.  Byrns went six innings, giving up only two hits while striking out eight Moorpark batters.

Byrns turned the ball over to Min Joon Cho, who was great through one inning before getting himself into a jam in the eighth inning.  Zachary Allegro came on to stop the Moorpark rally after the Raiders had loaded the bases with two outs in the inning and cut the lead to 4-2.  Allegro got Jadyn Myatt to pop up to shortstop to end the threat, thus preserving the lead.  Allegro then silenced the Moorpark lineup in the top half of the ninth to pick up his second save of the season.

Saddleback grabbed a 2-0 lead in the bottom half of the second inning when Andrew Nykoluk doubled down the left field line to drive home Jacob Hudson and Jason Wright with two outs in the inning.

Leading 4-2 in the eighth inning, the Bobcats tacked on two insurance runs when a throwing error allowed both Nykoluk and Wright to score to increase the lead to 6-2.

Nykoluk and James Derflinger led the Saddleback lineup with two hits apiece while Wright reached base three times in scoring two runs in the game.

Saddleback is now 4-1 overall for the season following the win.  The Bobcats are scheduled to host Southwestern College on Tuesday at 2:00 PM, weather permitting.
