Smith joins "The Herd" of commitments
The Saddleback baseball program had a big week last week, with three players making commitments to four-year universities. Catcher Dylan Smith was the latest announcement after he gave a commitment to Marshall University.
Smith played in 14 games this past season before the season was cut short due to COVID-19. The sophomore was hitting .286 when the season ended and was masterful behind the plate, throwing out 10-of-14 opponents attempting to steal a base.
Smith committed to Marshall University, located in Huntington, West Virginia. The Thundering Herd play in the Conference-USA.
Previous to Saddleback, Smith lettered in baseball at Woodbridge High School before graduating in 2017. While at WHS, Smith was an all-league selection in 2017.
Smith is the eighth member of the 2019 squad to make a commitment to a four-year school.
