Goddard is the latest to commit

The Saddleback baseball program was back in the news this week with the announcement of another player from the 2019 squad making a commitment to a four-year school.  Pitcher Ashton Goddard gave a commitment to the University of Hawaii, according to the baseball office.

Goddard played in 14 games in 1.5 seasons at Saddleback, finishing with 30 strikeouts in 34 innings of work.  His biggest performance of the season this past year was against Cypress College when he pitched 3.1 innings of work in a relief role against the Chargers in picking up a key victory for the Gauchos (8-4).

Goddard will head to Hawaii, who plays an NCAA D1 schedule within the Big West Conference.  The Warriors were 11-6 when the pandemic hit, thus ending what looked like a promising season.

Goddard came to Saddleback from the University of Utah, where he redshirted in 2018.  Previous to UU, Goddard lettered in baseball at Laguna Beach High School before graduating in 2017.  While at LBHS, he was part of a CIF championship program, was the Most Valuable Pitcher of the Orange Coast League in 2015 and an All-CIF selection in 2016.

Goddard was the sixth member of the 2019 team to commit to a four-year university.
