Three more Gauchos moving on

The Saddleback baseball program was back in the news this week when the baseball office announced that three more members of the 2019 squad had committed to four-year universities.  Jacob Bogacz, Demitri Colacchio and Trevor Harris all made decisions this past week.

Bogacz came to Saddleback from Northern Colorado and will now head to Lewis-Clark State University. He pitched in six games this season at Saddleback, finishing with a 3.00 ERA.  Bogacz had 10 strikeouts in six innings of work.  His best performance came against Orange Coast College when he struck out the side in one inning of work against the Pirates on April 11. 

Lewis-Clark is located in Lewiston, Idaho, and plays under the NAIA umbrella.  The Warriors finished 35-15-1 in 2019, making it to the NAIA World Series. 

Colacchio came to Saddleback from the University of Utah and will continue his career at Cal State Fullerton.  He was a pillar of consistency for Saddleback, earning Second Team All-Orange Empire Conference status at the end of the season.  Colacchio batted .379 for the year, missing a handful of games during the middle part of the schedule.  Despite the missed games, he still finished fourth in hits (44) and fifth in RBI (21) with a stunning .973 fielding percentage at shortstop.  Colacchio had four hits on two occasions, finishing 9-for-15 in the final three games of the season as the Gauchos swept Irvine Valley. 

Cal State Fullerton plays an NCAA Division I schedule in the Big West Conference.  The Titans finished 27-26 in 2019. 

Harris came to Saddleback from Baylor University and will continue his career at Saint Louis University.  He had a sensational finish to the season when he was thrown into the starting rotation due to a number of injuries on the pitching staff.  Harris finished with a 2-0 record and a 1.35 ERA in 20 innings of work.  His best performance came against Irvine Valley in the final week of the season when he pitched a complete game in a 4-1 win over the Lasers. 

Saint Louis plays an NCAA Division I schedule in the Atlantic 10 Conference.  The Billikens finished 25-30 overall in 2019.
