Two more Gauchos find new homes

The Saddleback baseball team is back in the news as the baseball office announced this weekend that two more members of the 2017 squad have signed letters of intent.  Pitchers Michael Carr and Devin Sutorius were the latest Gauchos to commit to four-year programs.

Carr (pictured) will continue his baseball career at Missouri Baptist University.  He was 7-1 this past season at Saddleback, finishing with a 2.74 ERA in 46 innings of work.  His best performance of the year came on March 24 when he pitched 6.1 innings against Fullerton, giving up one earned run on two hits while striking out four.  Carr appeared in 19 games this past seas, making seven starts.  Missouri Baptist is located in St. Louis, Missouri.  The Spartans play under the NAIA umbrella in the American Midwest Conference and were 45-16 this past season, making it to the NAIA World Series.

Sutorius will continue his career at Biola University, located in La Mirada, California.  He finished the season 2-1 overall with a 3.42 ERA in 50 innings of work.  Sutorius had the highest strikeout-per-inning on the team (7.74/9) in 20 appearances.  His best performance came out of the pen when he shut down Chaffey College for four innings on February 15, giving up just one hit while striking out six.  Biola plays under the NAIA umbrella in the Golden State Athletic Conference.  The Eagles were 35-18 overall in 2017.

The two signings brings the total to six so far for the baseball program, with more expected in the coming weeks.
