Baseball closing in on transfer record

The Saddleback baseball program now has 16 players from the 2016 squad committed to four-year universities after the baseball office announced two more this week.  The Gauchos are within two of a program record back in 2001.

Saddleback had two more players make choices when catcher River Fawley and outfielder Jack Kaloogian both decided on new homes.  Fawley will play at Biola University while Kaloogian signed to play at Cal State San Marcos.

Fawley played in 13 games this season, backing up starter Dallas Dey.  He never committed an error all season and allowed just one stolen base.  He will play at Biola, a program located in La Mirada, California.  The Eagles play under the NAIA umbrella in the Golden State Athletic Conference.  They finished 31-27 in 2016.

Kaloogian played in 18 games this season and never committed an error in the field.  He heads to Cal State San Marcos, an NCAA D2 program playing in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.  The Cougars finished 23-25 in 2016.

Saddleback now has 16 commitments to four-year schools, which is two shy of the program record set back in 2001 when the Gauchos finished 33-13.
