Baseball commits up to 10

The Saddleback baseball program had a big season in 2016, winning the Orange Empire Conference for the first time since 1998.  The Gauchos have turned that success into rewards off the field, with a number of players earning scholarship offers and making commitments to new schools.

Saddleback now has 10 players committed to four-year universities, with another handful yet to come.  The most players ever committed was in 2004 when 18 Gauchos committed to universities.  There was also three more times when 15 players committed, and Saddleback is expected to likely eclipse that number by the end of the recruiting period.

One of the biggest commitments was shortstop Luke Jarvis, who committed to Auburn University in the SEC.   Jarvis (pictured) was a First Team All-Orange Empire Conference selection after batting .371 for the year.  Both Jared Donahoe and Daniel Endsley will head to Houston Baptist, a program that competed in the NCAA Tournament this year.  John Sheaks will head to Long Beach State, another program that competed this past weekend in the NCAA Tournament.
