
Bobcats split in the sand
The Saddleback women's beach volleyball team was back in action on Wednesday and went 1-1 against Cypress College and Fullerton College at Irvine Valley College. The Bobcats lost a tough opener to Cypress before storming past Fullerton in the second match of the day.
Saddleback was playing a pair of matches originally scheduled for mid-March but had to be made up due to inclement weather on the original date.
Saddleback opened with a tough loss against Cypress when the Bobcats fell to the Chargers, 3-2. Saddleback and Cypress were even on the courts through four matches before having to forfeit the fifth and final match due to a shortage of players.
Saddleback made the best of the day with a dominating win against Fullerton in the late match. The most dominating performance was turned in by Delaney Wilson and Cori Willcoxson on court two when they breezed past their opponents 21-3 and 21-13.
Saddleback had two other dominating wins as Sophie Vienna and Meg Gardner teamed for a 21-11, 21-15 win on court one while the duo of Sara Johnson and Carolina McNamee scored a 21-7, 21-11 win on court three. The Bobcats picked up a forfeit win on court four.
Saddleback is now 6-6 overall and 4-6 in Orange Empire Conference play following the split. The Bobcats will be back in action on Friday at Irvine Valley College when they play Irvine Valley and Santiago Canyon College.
