Women finish 8th at state

The Saddleback women's cross country team finished in eighth place at the 3C2A State Finals on Saturday in Fresno.  Danna Ibarra Canales finished seventh overall as an individual.

Saddleback had a strong finish to the close of the season Saturday in finishing eighth in the team competition.  It was the best finish at the state finals since 2019 and the fourth best finish in program history.

Ibarra Canales continued her amazing finish to the season by crossing the finish line in seventh place overall.  She ran the course in 18:36.88, which was fourth overall among all freshmen in the race.  Ibarra Canales' finish gives her a spot on both the All-California and All-America teams.  In addition, her time was a program record on the course at Woodward Park.

Ibarra Canales was followed for Saddleback by Payton Love, who finished 31st overall and 24th in the team competition for the Bobcats.  Love finished the course in 19:35.92.

Rounding out the team score was Casey Jones (19:58.00), Shae Barrera (22:32.4) and Midori McConathy (22:37.2).

The eighth place finish was the fourth best in program history, following the 2019 team (2nd), 2018 team (5th) and 2016 team (5th).
