WXC qualifies for state

The Saddleback women's cross country team finished sixth at the Southern California Regional Finals on Friday at El Dorado Park in Long Beach.  The finish puts the Bobcats into the state finals in Fresno on November 18.

Saddleback saved some of their best racing for last and the Bobcats had their best finish at the regional championships since 2019 on Friday.  Saddleback's sixth place finish was the best since finishing second in 2019 and the fourth best finish in program history.

Danna Ibarra Canales continued her tremendous finish to the season.  Ibarra Canales finished seventh overall to earn All-Southern California Team recognition.  She crossed the finish line of the 5k trek in 18:28.7.

Saddleback had two others finish in the top-40 in a race that featured 158 harriers.  Payton Love finished in 35th place in a time of 19:29.5 while Casey Jones was 37th in a time of 19:39.8.

Shae Barrera (21:30.7) and Midori McConathy (21:31.5) finished 80th and 81st, respectively, to round out the team score.

Saddleback will participate at the 3C2A State Finals in Fresno on November 18.
