Cats run second at GWI

The Saddleback women's cross country team finished second at the Golden West Invitational on Friday in Huntington Beach.  The Bobcats had two finishers in the top-5 of the event.

Saddleback was led by Payton Love and Danna Ibarra Canales, who both collected hardware for finishing in the top-5 of the race.  Love finished fourth overall, finishing the 5k trek in 19:54.25.  Ibarra Canales was not far behind her in fifth place, crossing the finish line in 20:01.62.

Saddleback finished second of eight teams on the day with 64 total points.  Orange Empire Conference rival Riverside City College won the event with a team total of 40 points.

Saddleback had four other harriers finish in the top-40 in a race that featured 87 runners.  Christina Bernik was 14th when she finished in 21:31.0.  Casey Jones finished 21st overall (22:01.35) while Mia Arnwine was 31st (22:49.8) and Midori McConathy was 40th (23:06.47). 

Saddleback will compete again at the San Diego Mesa Invitational on October 6.
