Andrews wins Sandy Nitta Award

The Saddleback women's water polo program was back in the news this week with the announcement that head coach Molly Andrews has been named the winner of the Sandy Nitta Award.  Andrews guided the Bobcats to the program's first playoff appearance in 17 years.

The Sandy Nitta Award is handed out by USA Water Polo, located in Irvine.  It gives out annual awards to coaches from varying levels, and Andrews was recognized as the elite women's coach from the SoPac Region.

Andrews took over the Saddleback program in 2021.  In just her second season, she guided the team to its first playoff appearance since 2005.  The Bobcats set a new program record with 19 wins in 2022 and made it to the second round of the Southern California Regional Playoffs.

"I am honored to be recognized as a recipient of this award," Andrews said.  "I owe a lot to the players and the hard work they put in during the course of the year."
