The Saddleback women's water polo team defeated Golden West College, 12-9, on Wednesday in Huntington Beach to take over fourth place in the Orange Empire Conference. The Bobcats had five goals from Akemi Nakachi in the win.
Nakachi has been red hot, scoring 11 goals in the past two games. She scored five on Wednesday to lead the Bobcats to a critical win in Orange Empire Conference (OEC) play. The win was sweet redemption after losing to the Rustlers this past week in the Battle at the Beach Tournament.
Saddleback is now 17-12 overall and 2-3 in OEC play. The Bobcats were ranked No. 8 in the state and No. 6 in the south in the latest California Community College Water Polo Coaches Association poll produced on October 19.
Saddleback hopes for a high seed when the Southern California Regional Tournament pairings are announced in a couple of weeks. Regional play begins on November 10.
