Bobcats named the 5-seed
The Saddleback women's volleyball team was named the No. 5 seed for the upcoming 3C2A Southern California Regional Tournament on Thursday at the Southern California Coaches Meeting. The Bobcats will host Orange Coast College in a matchup of two Orange Empire Conference teams.
Saddleback had its best season in 25 years, winning the first Orange Empire Conference title since 1997. The Bobcats finished 18-5 overall and 13-3 in OEC play, winning eight of its final nine matches of the season.
One of those wins was a victory over Orange Coast College, the team they will face on Tuesday when the Bobcats open the playoffs. Saddleback defeated Orange Coast in both conference matches this season, defeating the Pirates 3-2 at OCC on October 4 and beating the Pirates 3-1 at home on November 3.
Three other Orange Empire Conference programs made the Southern California Regional Tournament in Irvine Valley College, Cypress College and Riverside City College. Irvine Valley was named the No. 4 seed and will play the winner of Pasadena City College and San Bernardino Valley College on Tuesday. Cypress was named the No. 7 seed and will host Santa Monica College on Tuesday. Riverside City was named the No. 19 seed and will play at Mt. San Jacinto College on Saturday.
Saddleback and Orange Coast are scheduled to start at 6:00 PM inside the Saddleback gymnasium on Tuesday.
