Bobcats down The Hive in Five

Bobcats down The Hive in Five

The Saddleback women's volleyball team pulled off a full reversal on Friday, rallying from two sets down to defeat Fullerton College, 3-2.  The Bobcats rallied for a 15-25, 23-25, 25-21, 25-23, 15-13 win over the No. 22 Hornets in front of a raucous crowd.

Saddleback came out slowly, making a number of unforced errors and watching as Fullerton stormed to a 25-15 win in the opening set.   The second set went a bit better, but still saw the Bobcats on the wrong end of the scoreboard, 25-23.

Saddleback came out quickly in the fourth set, taking a 4-0 lead.  Fullerton rallied to make the game close, but the Bobcats put together a run at the end of the set for a 25-21 win, forcing a fourth set.

Saddleback and Fullerton were neck and neck throughout the fourth set, but a bunch of missed serves and unforced errors by the Hornets kept the Bobcats alive.  Saddleback eventually rallied for a 25-23 win to force a fifth and final set.

With the pressure clearly on Fullerton, Saddleback took it to the Hornets in the final set and never trailed.  The Bobcats and Hornets used all of their timeouts, doing anything they could to break up the other's momentum.  Saddleback would eventually put the game away, 15-13, in what was easily the most exciting and consequential win of the season.

Saddleback had three players finish with more than 10 kills on the night as Sydney Brown led the way with 22.  Logan Daniels finished with 43 assists for the night while Jolie Robinson had a team-high 22 digs.

Saddleback improved to 6-3 overall and 2-2 in Orange Empire Conference play with the win.  The Bobcats moved into fifth place with the win, a half a game ahead of Fullerton (8-8, 2-3) in the standings.

Saddleback will travel to Santa Ana to take on the Dons next Wednesday.  Match time is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
