Bobcats third at OCC Classic

The Saddleback women's track & field team was in action at the Orange Coast Classic on Friday in Costa Mesa.  The Bobcats finished third out of eight teams and had 16 finishes in the top-10.

Saddleback had wins from Isabelle Teh in the pole vault (3.20 m) and Chelsea Kerr in the triple jump (11.19). 

Saddleback was dominant in the triple jump.  In addition to Kerr's win, Rachel Whitten was second (10.50 m), Marie Poljanycka third (9.57 m) and Mina Gardi sixth (8.69 m).  Kerr wasn't finished, placing third in the long jump (5.17 m). 

Saddleback was also very good at the middle and long distance events.  Casey Jones finished second in the 5,000 meters with a personal-best time of 20:50.91 while Naomi Roe was third (21:46.71).  Shaelynn Barbieri was fourth in the 800 meters (2:40.27). 

Saddleback had a number of solid performances in field events.  Amanda McFadden was third in the discus throw (33.05 m) while finishing seventh in the shot put (9.43 m).  Amari Trevino-Beverly finished in the top-10 in three events, finishing seventh in the discus (25.18 m) while finishing ninth in both the shot put (9.20 m) and hammer throw (27.21 m). 

Saddleback had one top-10 finish in the sprints and hurdles with Esther Parrish finishing third in the 100 hurdles (16.20).  The Bobcats were also third in the 4 x 100 relay (52.51). 

Saddleback will have a week off before participating in the Arnie Robinson Invitational at San Diego Mesa College on March 31.
