Robinson wins javelin title

The Saddleback women's track & field team is off to a great start on day one of the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) State Track & Field Meet at Mt. San Antonio College.  Jolie Robinson won the state title in the javelin throw to start the meet.

Robinson seems to be hitting her stride at just the right time.  She had her best throw of the season at the state finals on Friday when she threw the dart 38.89 meters (130' 10") to edge out College of the Redwoods' Josie Peterson.

In addition to her winning the javelin, Robinson currently leads through four events of the heptathlon.  She was a winner in both the high jump and 200 meters while finishing second in the shot put and sixth in the 100-meter hurdles.  Robinson had a personal-best in the 200 meters when she crossed the finish line in 26.03.  Her leap of 1.59 meters in the high jump was just 0.01 meters away from a personal best of 1.60 meters.

Robinson currently leads all competitors in the state with 2.755 points through four events on day one.  Her closest competitor is Santa Rosa's Emily Johnson at 2,661 points.  The heptathlon concludes on Saturday with the javelin, long jump and 800 meters.  Robinson just won the state title in the javelin on Friday and is tied for the longest leap of the year in the state in the long jump, making her one of the favorites heading into day two of the state finals.
