Robinson is back at it

The Saddleback track & field team was back in the news this week as the Bobcats competed in the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) prelims at Golden west College on Friday.  Jolie Robinson was up to her old tricks, setting the conference standard in another event.

Robinson has had quite a season.  She won the OEC heptathlon in early March and then captured the Southern California Regional title earlier this month.  Now she has her sights set on winning a number of individual OEC titles over the next week and has already won two after Friday in the javelin throw and the long jump.

Robinson left the field in her wake in the javelin on Friday, setting personal-best with a toss of 38.21 meters (125' 4").  It was over 29-feet further than any other competitor in the field and was the longest throw in the state this season.  Robinson's toss was the fifth furthest in Saddleback program history and the longest toss since 1994.

Robinson also captured an individual title in the long jump when she covered 5.38 meters (17' 8"), which was a modest jump for Robinson.  She already has the longest jump in the state this season with a leap of 5.77 meters (18' 11.25") at the Cal State Los Angeles Invitational.

Saddleback had one more winner on Friday in the Pole Vault after Isabelle Teh won the event with a vault of 3.51 meters (11" 6.25").  Teh currently has the third longest vault in the state this season after clearing 3.60 meters (11' 9.75") at the Arnie Robinson Invitational.

The OEC Finals will conclude next Friday at Golden West College.
