Bobcats win home-opener
The Saddleback women's tennis team is now 2-0 for the season after beating Rio Hondo College, 6-3, on Tuesday afternoon at the Saddleback tennis complex. It's the first time the program has started 2-0 since the 2017 season.
Saddleback opened the contest by winning 2-of-3 doubles matches after winning at both No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. The Bobcats then increased the lead to 4-1 before Rio Hondo won at No. 5 and No. 6 singles to cut the lead to 4-3. Saddleback then closed out the team match with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 singles for a 6-3 win.
Four different Saddleback players finished with two wins on the day as Sydney Grove, Ellie Maruna, Brooke Buser and Emily West all went 2-0. The best finish in singles play came from Buser, who swept past her opponent in singles play 6-0, 6-0.
