Reid has big day at OEC Championships

The Saddleback women's swim and dive team is participating in the Orange Empire Conference Championships this week at Orange Coast College.  Freshman Julia Reid had a sensational day, winning one event and finishing second in another.

Reid has been improving all season and looked like one of the favorites heading into the finals of the 100 Breaststroke.  After a stellar performance in the prelims on Friday when she posted a time of 1:08.75 she was the top seed to beat in the finals during the afternoon session.  Reid didn't disappoint in the finals, touching the pad in 1:08.57 to capture the OEC title.  Her time on Friday was the fifth fastest time in program history.

Reid also made a run at a second title in the 50 Freestyle on Thursday.  She came into the event as the No. 2 seed and shaved over a second off her fastest time of the year in finishing second with a time of 25.24.  Her time on Thursday ranks No. 10 all-time in program history.

Reid and her teammates sit in fourth place at the Orange Empire Conference Championships through two days.  The meet concludes on Saturday at Orange Coast College.
