Women’s swim 3rd at OCC

The Saddleback women's swim and dive team was in action this week and finished third at the opening Orange Empire Conference Meet at Orange Coast College on Friday.  The Bobcats had a number of top-10 performances.

Saddleback was led by Kaitlyn Dawley, who picked up 49 team points with three excellent finishes.  Dawley was second in the 200 Fly when she touched the pad in 2:33.26, which was a top-10 finish in program history.  Dawley also finished third in the 1650 Freestyle (20:19.08) and fourth in the 500 Freestyle (5:51.75). 

Another with a solid performance was Carson Mackenzie, who had top-10 finishes in three separate events.  Mackenzie was fifth in the 200 Fly (2:56.28), sixth in the 200 Individual Medley (2:48.59) and seventh in the 100 Fly (1:20.35) to pick up 39 points for the team. 

Marin Hickson also had three top-10 finishes, including a fifth place finish in the 1650 Freestyle (21:06.91).  Hickson was eighth in both the 500 Freestyle (6:02.32) and 200 Breaststroke (3:01.69).

Brielle Horner and Ryleigh Spruth both picked up 27 points for the team on Friday. Horner had top-10 finishes when finishing eighth in the 50 Freestyle (27.89) and ninth in the 200 Backstroke (2:57.78).  Spruth had a sensational finish in the 100 Fly when she finished fourth (1:15.67). 

Two others had top-10 performances as Emma Jimenez finished sixth in the 100 Breaststroke (1:23.51) and Macie Schniepp was seventh in the 1650 Freestyle (22:31.86). 

In relay events, Saddleback was fourth in the 200 Freestyle Relay (1:52.78) and fifth in the 200 Medley Relay (2:13.04). 

Saddleback will be back in the water on March 24 at another Orange Empire Conference event.
