Bobcats named 3-seed for the playoffs

The California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Southern California Regional Tournament brackets are set and Saddleback will be the No. 3 seed for the upcoming tournament.  The Bobcats will host the winner of Santa Monica College and Bakersfield College on Saturday inside the stadium.

Saddleback finished the regular season 16-2-3 overall and 11-1-2 in the Orange Empire Conference (OEC).  The Bobcats will have some familiar faces in their bracket as both Santiago Canyon College and Cypress College are in the same bracket.  In total, five of the 12 teams in the bracket are from the OEC, a conference that has had a team in each of the last three state title games. 

Santa Monica and Bakersfield will play on Wednesday at Santa Monica to determine an opponent for Saturday.  The Corsairs and Renegades are both from the Western State South Division.  Santa Monica finished in third place in the WSS while Bakersfield was fifth.  The two squads met twice this season.  Bakersfield was a winner on October 4 (1-0) before the two teams tied on October 28 (1-1). 

Saddleback played one opponent from the Western State South this season, defeating second place College of the Canyons (4-2) on September 20. 

Saddleback's game against the winner of Santa Monica and Bakersfield is scheduled to start at 7:00 PM on Saturday. 

NOTES:  The last time Saddleback faced either Santa Monica or Bakersfield was in 2016 when Saddleback tied Santa Monica, 0-0.
