Bobcats set another milestone in 15th win

The Saddleback women's soccer team won its 15th game of the season on Friday with a 2-0 victory over Golden West College inside the stadium.  The Bobcats tied up the Rustlers defensively, surrendering very few scoring opportunities, while setting a new team scoring record.

Saddleback dominated play from start-to-finish, outshooting Golden West 19-1 in the opening half and 27-4 for the game.  The Bobcats had a 14-3 advantage in shots on goal as the team was clicking on all cylinders.

Saddleback opened the scoring in the 12th minute when Maliyah Medley took a pass from Kylie Beu and slid it past the keeper for a 1-0 lead.  It was Medley's 20th goal of the season and 60th goal of the season for the Bobcats.  The 60th goal tied the 2003 team for most goals in a season.

Saddleback broke the record in the second half when Lizbeth De Loera (pictured) cruised into the box unchecked and beat the Golden West keeper to the left side of the net.  It was De Loera's fifth goal of the season and gave the Bobcats some breathing room with a 2-0 lead.

Saddleback had it on cruise control from that point forward, taking the opportunity to insert a bevy of fresh jerseys.  The Bobcats had a number of great scoring chances throughout the game but ran into a hot goalkeeper (Carly Miles), who managed to make 13 saves for the day.

Saddleback now has 15 wins on the season, which is the second most amount of wins in a season in program history.  Only the 2015 team had more wins in a season when it won 16 games while finishing second in the Orange Empire Conference.

Saddleback's final two games of the regular season are on the road next week.  The Bobcats will play at Fullerton College on Tuesday at 3:00 PM and then finish at the Great Park in Irvine on Friday at 3:00 PM against inter-district rival Irvine Valley College.
