Bobcats swarm The Hive

Bobcats swarm The Hive

The Saddleback women's soccer team kept its unbeaten and shutout streaks intact with a 4-0 win against Fullerton College on Friday inside the Saddleback stadium.  The Bobcats overwhelmed the Hornets for their 11th straight shutout to start the season.

Saddleback has now outscored opponents 43-0 for the year after the win on Friday.  The Bobcats were dominant throughout, scoring in the third minute of the game and never allowing the Hornets any breathing space throughout.  Saddleback outshot Fullerton 36-4 over the course of 90 minutes, including a 19-3 advantage in shots on goal.

Kylie Beu opened the scoring in the third minute when she took a pass from Samantha Villasenor and steered it past the Fullerton keeper.  It was Beu's seventh goal of the season and gave the Bobcats all they would need.  Beu then fed Maliyah Medley for her team-leading 13th goal of the season in the 14th minute and Saddleback was off and running.

Saddleback increased the lead to 4-0 over the next 14 minutes as Villasenor and Ashlee Park each scored unassisted goals to blow the game wide open.    For Villasenor (pictured) and Park, it was their first goals of the season as 13 different Bobcats have now tallied goals for the year.

Saddleback had a bevy of other opportunities to score over the course of the game, hitting the crossbar three times and each side of the post at least once.  Olivia Wynn played all 90 minutes in goal for the Bobcats, making three saves for the afternoon while picking up her ninth win of the season.

Saddleback (9-0-2, 3-0-2) moved into sole possession of second place in the Orange Empire Conference after Santiago Canyon registered a 1-0 win against Cypress College on Friday in Orange.  The three programs were all rated in the top four in the state in the latest California Community College Sports Information Association (CCCSIA) Rankings that came out this past week.

Saddleback will have three games next week, provided there is no postponements.  The Bobcats will host Irvine Valley College (Tuesday, 3:00 PM) and Orange Coast College (Wednesday, 7:00 PM) before traveling to Santa Ana College on Friday (3:00 PM).
