Bobcats record 10th straight shutout

The Saddleback women's soccer team recorded its 10th straight shutout with a 2-0 win at Golden West College on Tuesday in Huntington Beach.  The Bobcats improved to 8-0-2 overall and 2-0-2 in Orange Empire Conference play with the win.

Saddleback was facing a Golden West squad known for defense in 2021, and the Bobcats showed off their own in recording another shutout.  The Bobcats surrendered just one shot on goal as Olivia Wynn recorded her eighth win of the season in goal.

Saddleback opened the scoring in the 20th minute when Lizbeth De Loera scored her fourth goal of the season off a pass from Maliyah Medley.  For De Loera, it erased a three-game scoring drought and moved her into fourth on the team in goals scored.

Maliyah Medley gave the Bobcats some breathing room in the 50th minute when she took a pass from Isabella Messina and slipped it past the Golden West keeper for a 2-0 lead.  For Medley, it was her team-leading 12th goal of the season.

Saddleback was scheduled to play again on Wednesday but the game has been postponed due to COVID protocols.  The Bobcats will play again on Friday when they travel to Fullerton College to take on the Hornets.  Game time is scheduled for 3:00 PM in Fullerton.
