Whipple says yes to the Big West

The Saddleback women's golf team was back in the news this week as another one of the players from the state tournament team has signed a letter of intent to play at a four-year university.    Nicole Whipple made a commitment to Cal State Bakersfield this past weekend.

Whipple was a two-year star for Saddleback, helping the Bobcats to second (2021) and third place (2022) finishes at the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) State Tournament the past two seasons.  Whipple won medalist honors at the CCCAA Southern California Regional Championships this past season when she shot -4 (140) over the two days at El Prado Golf Club.  She then finished third at the CCCAA State Championships the following weekend at Morro Bay.

Whipple was a two-time, First Team All-Orange Empire Conference (OEC) selection during her time at Saddleback, helping the Bobcats to a 60-0 record in OEC play this past season and 118-2 record in her two seasons.

Previous to Saddleback, Whipple lettered in golf at Mission Viejo High School before graduating in 2021.  While at MVHS, Whipple was a captain for three years and part of a league championship team.

Cal State Bakersfield is located in Bakersfield, California, and plays an NCAA DI schedule within the Big West Conference.  The Roadrunners open the spring schedule in February.

Whipple is the second player from the 2022 squad to commit to a four-year university.
