Bobcats capture OEC title

The Saddleback women's golf team captured the Orange Empire Conference championship this week at Menifee Lakes Golf Club in Menifee, California.  The Bobcats finished second at the OEC Finals, which was good enough to secure the conference title.

Saddleback was nearly assured of a conference championship entering the event, leading by nine games in the standings heading into the finals.  The Bobcats secured the title on Monday when it finished second to Orange Coast on the opening day of the two-day event.  With an eight-game lead in hand, there was no chance that OCC could catch the Bobcats o Wednesday.

Saddleback was led by Amber Davalos on the final two days.  Davalos (pictured) shot 79 and 82 on the par-72 course for a two-day total of 161.  Along with her performance she was named to the All-Orange Empire Conference First Team.  Joining Davalos on the first team was Nicole Whipple and Sabrina Ladd while Lia Harvey was named to the second team.

Saddleback finished 58-2 in Orange Empire Conference play after finishing second at the finals.  Orange Coast College shot (317 + 315 = 632) to win the two-day event.

Saddleback now moves on to the Southern California Regional Finals on Sunday and Monday at Sundale Country Club in Bakersfield, with four programs moving on to the state championships at Cypress Ridge Golf Club in Arroyo Grande on November 14-15.
