Bobcats set record in opener

The Saddleback women's golf team opened the season with a record-setting performance at Soboba Golf Club on Wednesday in San Jacinto.  The Bobcats shot 307 as a team to win by 16 strokes, breaking the team-score record.

Saddleback was lights out in their first outing of the year, with all four players finishing in the 70's.  Amber Davalos led the way with a 1-over par round of 73 to finish as the medalist among seven Orange Empire Conference programs.  Davalos was followed closely by Mariana Gandia-Mak (76), Nicole Whipple (79) and Lia Harvey (79).

Saddleback's team score of 307 was 13 shots better than any score during the 2019 campaign when the team finished fourth in the state at the CCCAA state finals. The Bobcats finished 16 strokes ahead of Orange Coast College, who finished in second place for the day.

Saddleback will play again on Monday when they host the rest of the OEC at Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club.  The first tee time on Monday is set for 12:00 PM.
