Bio

Workman joined the Saddleback staff in the fall of 2019 as the head men's and women’s coach.  Since arriving, Workman has created one of the best teams in the nation.  By the spring of 2020, Saddleback finished 1st in the National Scholastic Surfing Association (NSSA) Conference & were the 2020 NSSA State Champions.  The surf team was on track to win 2020 national title until Covid-19 hit, cancelling all events for the next 1.5 years. Once competitions started back up, the Saddleabck Surf Team picked up where it had left off by winning the 2022 NSSA National Title, following it up as the NSSA national runner-ups in 2023.

Previous to Saddleback, Workman coached both the boys and girls surf teams at Tesoro High School for a decade, where the team won five Scholastic Surf Series (SSS) inland division state titles and three runner-up and two third place finishes.

Workman also competed in wrestling for nine years where four of those were at the NCAA D-1 level; he was a PAC-10 Runner-up and top-13 finish at the nationals.  Workman brings in his competitive years wrestling experience, mind set into managing the surf team.

Workman graduated from Santa Fe High School where he played baseball and wrestled.   He travels each summer to different surf spots in Nicaragua, Bali, Tahiti, Fiji, Costa Rica and Mexico.

Workman earned a kinesiology and health degree with a supplemental credential in physics from Cal State Fullerton.  He also earned a master's degree in education from Cal State San Bernardino.
