Calderon and McGruder named All-OEC

Calderon and McGruder named All-OEC

The Saddleback softball season came to a close last week and the coaches from the Orange Empire Conference met to determine an all-conference team.  The Bobcats had two players named to the squad.

Catcher Mia Calderon and pitcher Desiree McGruder were named to the second team over the weekend.  Both were among the league leaders at their respective positions.

Calderon led the team in just about every offensive category.  She led the team in batting average (.410), on-base percentage (.419), slugging percentage (.686), hits (43), home runs (5) and RBI (30).  Calderon finished eighth in the conference in hitting, fourth in home runs and fourth in slugging percentage.

McGruder kept her ERA low despite a lack of run support for her win/loss record.  She finished just 13-19 on the mound, but her 2.92 ERA was fifth in the entire conference.  In addition, McGruder proved to be a workhorse as she led the conference with 18 complete games and was second in innings pitched (189.2).
