Men run sixth at SoCal Preview

The Saddleback men's cross country team finished in sixth place at the Southern California Preview Meet on Friday in Bakersfield.  The Bobcats had six finishers in the top-45 of the team competition.

Saddleback was facing 33 other programs from Southern California in what is considered a good barometer for where the program stands.  The Bobcats were better than most, finishing an eyelash from a top-5 finish.

Saddleback was led by Santiago Sanchez, who finished 27th overall and 26th in the team competition.  Sanchez ran the 4-mile trek in 21:33.2, finishing less than 15 seconds from a top-20 result.  He was followed closely by Brandon Pizano-Pintor, who finished two spots back in a time of 21:36.5. 

Saddleback had a consistent pace as a team, with all seven of its runners finishing in the top 65 harriers in the events (247 total runners).  Jullian Dorantes-Lara was 39th overall and 37th in the team competition (21:48.2), while Diego Martinez was 42nd overall and 38th in the team competition with a time of 21:55.9.  Jaeden Cornejo rounded out the team score with a 44th place finish in the team cometition (22:11.6).  

Saddleback will be back in action on October 7 at the San Diego Mesa College Invitation at NTC Park (Liberty Station).
