Bobcats run second in San Diego

The Saddleback men's cross country team opened the 2022 campaign with a second place finish at the San Diego Cross Country Kickoff on Friday at Harry Griffin Park.  The Bobcats had three finishers in the top-10.

Brandon Pizano-Pintor (left) led Saddleback with a fifth place finish overall.  Pizano-Pintor finished the trek in 17:32, and was just 27 seconds off the pace set by Cuyamaca's Atakity Gebru.  It was a solid start for Pizano-Pintor, who finished 10th in the state last fall.

Following closely for the Bobcats was Santiago Sanchez (center) and Jullian Dorantes-Lara (right), who finished in seventh and ninth place, respectively.  Sanchez finished the course in 17:43 while Dorantes-Lara crossed the finish line in 17:52.

Saddleback had three other harriers finish in the top-20 in Timothy Lacanienta (13th), Steven Shadell (16th) and Jacob Bambao (19th).

Saddleback finished with 50 total points in an event won by Cuyamaca College.

Saddleback cross country will be back in action on September 16 at the Golden West Invitational at Central Park in Huntington Beach.
