Bobcats 8th at SoCal Finals

The Saddleback men's cross country team finished eighth at the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Southern California Regional Finals on Friday at Miles Square Park in Fountain Valley.  With the finish, the Bobcats qualified for the CCCAA State Finals in two weeks.

Brandon Pizano-Pintor was again the star of the day for Saddleback, finishing eighth overall in the race.  Pizano-Pintor finished the four-mile trek in 20:01.25, and with it earned All-Region honors.

Another having a great result was Santiago Sanchez, who finished 27th overall in a time of 20:46.03.  Sanchez was 12th at the Orange Empire Conference Finals a week earlier.

Saddleback also finished 53rd, 58th and 78th in a race that featured 172 harriers.  Connor Ree (22:12.95), Zach Yost (22:18.89) and Maxx Handal (22:29.54) all ran solid races in helping Saddleback to its best finish at the Southern California Regional Finals since 2015.

Saddleback's eighth place finish was the third best finish at the Southern California Regional Finals in program history.  The only other better finishes as a team were in 2015 (5th) and 1997 (4th).

Saddleback now travels to the CCCAA State Finals in Fresno on November 20.
