Bobcats zap Hornets in the pool

The Saddleback men's water polo team won its first Orange Empire Conference game of the year with a 28-5 win against Fullerton College on Wednesday inside the Saddleback Aquatics Center.  The Bobcats led 18-1 at the half in cruising to the win.

Saddleback was red hot from the outset, scoring six goals in the first three minutes and 12 in the opening quarter for a 12-0 lead.  Andrew Barnuevo scored five times and Dylan Gallegos (pictured) had four in the opening quarter as the Bobcats only gave up one shot on goal through the first eight minutes.

The second quarter saw much of the same as Saddleback emptied out the bench but still found success.  They opened up an 18-0 lead at one point before the Hornets managed a goal in the closing minutes of the half.

Saddleback took the gas off the gas pedal in the final two quarters, outscoring the Hornets 10-4.  Bradley Pearce and Aiden Rule both had four goals over the final two quarters.

Saddleback is now 6-2 overall and 1-1 in Orange Empire Conference play.  The Bobcats will host the Saddleback Invitational this Friday and Saturday, playing three games each day.  Saddleback will host Crafton Hills College in the opener on Friday at 7:00 AM.  They will also play Ventura (9:50 AM) and Modesto (3:00 PM) on Friday.
