May has a day at the prelims

The Saddleback men's track & field team was in action at the Orange Empire Conference Track & Field Prelims held at Cal State Fullerton on Friday.  Freshman Daniel May had a personal-best score in winning the javelin.

May's best throw coming into the meet was 46.78 meters at the Cal State Los Angeles Twilight event earlier in the year.  He shattered that score with a throw of 57.34 meters on Friday to capture the Orange Empire Conference title.  May's throw was the fourth best score in the state this season and achieved the "A" Standard in the state for qualifying status.   It also moved May to 7th all time in Saddleback history in the event.

Saddleback had a great day on Friday as the Bobcats sit in second place through a handful of events that are scored at the prelims.

Saddleback had a second place finish from Brandon Pizano-Pintor in the 3,000-meter steeplechase when he crossed the finish line in 10:12.81.  The Bobcats also picked up more points in the event with Timothy Lacanienta (10:47.55) finishing fourth.

Ezekiel Sapp picked up a handful of points by finishing fifth in the hammer throw with a toss of 42.77 meters. Dryden LaCour (6.24m) and Ja'Qorie Goodson (6.22m) finished sixth and seventh, respectively, in the long jump.
