Bobcats drop season-best numbers

The Saddleback men's track & field team was in action this weekend at the Vaquero Classic held at both Glendale College and El Camino College on Friday and Saturday.  The Bobcats had 13 finishes in the top-8, with a handful of personal-bests recorded.

Saddleback had first place finishes in both the high jump and javelin throw with Alec Delgado and Daniel May.  Delgado recorded a leap of 1.90 meters in the high jump to achieve the "A" standard, which tied him for 10th in the state this season.  May (pictured) threw the javelin 46.59 meters to win his event and move into the top-25 in the state in the javelin.  Both performances were personal bests.  May wasn't finished, also finishing fifth in the discus throw (34.89m).

Saddleback also had two second place finishers in Ezekiel Sapp and Trazler McGrath.  Sapp set a personal-best in the hammer throw when he recorded a toss of 43.05 meters to finish second.  McGrath finished second in the pole vault with a vault of 3.95 meters.  Sapp also finished sixth in the discus (33.87m).

Two more personal-bests were set in distance running with Eric Dillon and Mitch Groff.  Dillon finished the 5,000 meters in fourth place with a time of 15:57.66 while Groff was sixth in a time of 16:08.29.

Saddleback had two top-8 finishers in both the 800 meters and long jump.  Marquis Colvin (1:58.52) was sixth in the 800 meters while Zach Yost (1:59.17) was eighth.  Dryden LaCour (6.52m) was fifth in the long jump while James Begando (6.32m) was seventh.

Saddleback had one other top-8 finisher when Ja'Qorie Goodson (12.79m) finished eighth in the triple jump.

Saddleback men's track & field will compete again at the Cal State Los Angeles Invitational on Wednesday and Thursday.
