Swim has best finish in 14 years

The Saddleback men's swim and dive team finished in 11th place at the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) State Swimming and Diving Meet on Saturday at East Los Angeles College.  It was the best finish for the program since 2009.

Saddleback entered the day in ninth place and managed to hold on to an 11th place finish at the end of the meet.  The Bobcats scored 133.5 points, finishing just 8.5 points away from a top-10 finish.

Saddleback was very competitive in relay events, finishing seventh in both the 200 Medley Relay and the 800 Freestyle Relay while finishing 14th in the 400 Freestyle Relay.

Saddleback's individual points came from Jack Stevens and Chase Campbell, who scored 31 and 28 points, respectively.  Stevens finished fifth in both the 100 Butterfly and 200 Butterfly while placing 13th in the 50 Freestyle.  Campbell finished seventh in both the 400 Individual Medley and 1650 Freestyle while placing 13th in the 100 Backstroke.

Saddleback's 11th place finish was the best for the program since finishing eighth at the state meet in 2009.  The best finish in program was in 1985 when Saddleback finished second.

On the women's side, Saddleback finished in 37th place.  The Bobcats were led by Kaitlyn Santala, who was 11th in the 1650 Freestyle and 13th in the 400 Individual Medley.
