Bobcats have a Stout performance

The Saddleback men's golf team had its best round in 15 years in winning at Temecula Creek Golf Club in Temecula on Wednesday.  Zachary Stout had the performance of the year, shooting 65 to take home medalist honors.

Stout was red hot on Wednesday, shooting 31-34=65 to win by five shots.  Stout made three eagles, four birdies and three bogies on the day playing the 6,784-yard combination of Oaks/Creek courses at Temecula.

Stout was part of a dominating performance by the Bobcats, who shot +3 as a team.  Declan Lane, Arthur Hess and Patrick Jaksch all shot 1-over-par rounds of 73 while Denis Watson and Dustin Vasquez both shot +7 (79).

Saddleback finished seven shots clear of Cypress College, who entered the tournament in first place in the Orange Empire Conference.  Riverside City College finished third at 377.

Saddleback's score of 363 was the lowest round for the program since shooting 356 at the state championships in 2007 when Saddleback captured the last of its six state titles in men's golf.   It was three shots better than a 366 shot at Willow Glen Golf Club earlier in the year.

Stout's round ranks among the best rounds in Saddleback golf history.  We will be scouring the record books in the coming days to see how it ranks in program history.

Saddleback men's golf will be back in action on Monday at Costa Mesa Country Club.
